Khaled Al-Johani Sentenced to Jail and Travel Ban

Global Voices reports that Khaled al-Johani, the lone protester who was arrested in Saudi Arabia’s so-called “Day of Rage” on March 11, 2011, was sentenced to 18 months in jail and a travel ban for 3 years. Al-Johani was released last July and his brother is quoted as saying that they were hopeful that Khaled would be declared innocent. This was not the case as the Criminal Court in Riyadh has sentenced him to a SR 600 fine in addition to the jail time and a travel ban.
