No Verdict in Lama’s Case Yet, Official Says

What has been circulated about the sentencing of a preacher accused of torturing his five-year-old daughter to death is inaccurate, a spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Justice told al-Hayat daily Thursday. Some media reports and activists on social media earlier said Fayhan al-Ghamdi, the father, was only sentenced to pay blood money, and some said he has been released from jail. The ministry, however, has denied this. The man is still on trial and a verdict has not been issued yet, spokesman Fahad al-Bakran said, adding that the al-Ghamdi has not been released.
